Let's all talk about the creepiest commercial to ever hit the TV screen that was first seen on Superbowl Sunday.
Can any of you really even remember what it was advertising?
I honestly can't.
But we all can picture that horrifying little creature... thing.
Not sure where the motivation came from for that commercial and who gave it the "okay" but having that e one of the first few Superbowl commercials shown, I knew it would be an interesting train of commercials coming our way that may end up being a let down.
There were a few good ones. But overall a bit underwhelming.
So that commercial was creepy right? and no one really even knows what it was advertising.
But go to your google search bar and just type "puppy"
The very first suggested searches is in fact puppy monkey baby
So as weird as the commercial was, it has apparently had an impact that everyone has been intrigued by it and searching it so I suppose they did in fact succeed in their commercial.
They made it weird and creepy enough that everyone couldn't help but just watch even though all any of us wanted to do was look away.
They even had that silly little jingle to go along with it!
Not necessarily a useful and effective commercial as previously discussed in class, but it definitely was memorable.
On the other hand, i'm an animal freak so naturally I did have a favorite commercial from the Superbowl and it did still involve puppies
and no it was not that awful puppy monkey baby commercial.
I can't get over the cutest and most joyous reunion of hundreds of weiner dogs uniting with their human friends as well as the amazing reunion of hundreds of hot dogs with a variety of Heniz sauces.
Best. Idea. Ever.
Hot dogs and sauce? yes. Dogs and a human family? yes. yes.
All around it was darling.

I agree with you completely about that commercial. It was very creepy and quite unnecessary but you are also right about them doing what they wanted to do. They made it so no one would not be talking about this dumb commercial for weeks and probably knowing that people would indeed be discussing what the product even was that they are trying to sell. So yes I think they did their job even though it seems sad that they succeeded with such a mind numbing dumb commercial haha. I also agree that other puppy one is so cute!
ReplyDeleteThat commercial was so creepy. I could not believe what I was watching, so when it came on the second time I couldn't even watch it. But I definitely remember that commercial well. They're advertising did get me to remember the commercial even if I don't remember what they were trying to sell.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I thought the ad was so strange that it was hilarious. It's interesting to hear all the reactions, as I work with a lot of people who absolutely hated it, but most of the people who I watched the SuperBowl with loved it. It was weird and kind of unexpected, but I guess since I am familiar with the product and previous commercials for it, I think it was also kind of expected. For example, here is a previous ad: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WG3MW_UwOj8 They're all just weird enough that you sit there thinking, "What?!" but at the same time, you almost can't stop watching.
